ON Assisted Suicide
“Life has intrinsic value, even when pain and suffering are present. None of us chooses when our life begins, or that our life begins. So we also don’t get to choose when our life ends. We are not, after all, the masters of our own fate; Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” is a crock of horse manunu.
And if we are lucky, our life will end in the way that it began: in an intimate circle of care, with the people whom we are bound to in this lifetime speaking words of boundless love over us.
