If we look at trends across the culture at large, the startup world in particular, and even within the Church, we might sum up the common ethos of the age like this: the pursuit of dominance at the cost of relationships. As American economist David Friedman once said, “There are three reasons to do something for another person: love, money, or force.” We simply cannot go out into the world as broken people, with broken relationships, through force — even when we are trying to “do something for” other people.
